LECTURES
Mr. Kwan is available for lectures on the following topics:
It is Your Business (emerging and young artists)
An overall view of what every young artist should expect once they finish their education. This session will present an intense introduction covering topics such as publicity materials, concert presentations, managers, agents, contracts, media and everything else a young artist should be aware of during their transition from being a student to becoming a `business'.
Presenting Classical Music (community presenters)
A guide to presenting classical music performances in your community. Learn about the successes and challenges that we all face in the presentation of this art form. This session will discuss new ideas, new approaches, partnerships and the long term developments that will ensure a proper foundation for promoting and fostering your artistic mandate.
Developing Your Technique (artists)
Up to this point, you have mastered your musical technique. As a self-managed artist, find out what `industry standard' materials are required and how you will need to develop these techniques as you begin your career. This session will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various marketing print-material as well as audio/video requirements. Ensure that the marketing materials you develop will reflect who you are, what you do and give the best impression to those who will receive it.
Striking the Right Chord! (artists)
'Performing a successful concert does not end when you leave the stage, it is just the beginning.' What does this mean and how does it relate to your career? This session will demonstrate how a successful partnership with the presenter, audience and community will foster a healthy network for your career. From the moment you step on stage, to the final notes of your performance, make sure that you maintain your presence. Remember, success is not the number of first engagements, but that of re-engagements.
