MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Colleagues,

It was 20 years ago that I decided to take on a new challenge and begin growing my company which now represents some of Canada's best artists. For me, this new venture was unchartered waters, but the excitement generated by this industry created an atmosphere that I simply could not wait to dive into. 20 years later, that passion remains just as strong, and more than ever, Andrew Kwan Artists Management is dedicated to bringing the best of Canadian classical and world musicians to communities across the country and beyond.

This special milestone year is a celebration not only for AKAM, but for the artists, presenters and organizations who believed in this company. For that, I am honoured and extend my gratitude. Simply put, it was the partnership of all stakeholders who built this agency’s reputation and success.

Moving forward into the 2012.13 season, AKAM continues its commitment to the arts in Canada. Offering an artist roster of the highest calibre, we strive to provide a fresh approach to classical and world music genres in order to keep up with the evolving marketplace. This year, we have developed exciting and unique programs, as well as outreach projects to suit all needs. In addition to standard concert presentations, some of our special programs include thematic concepts, multi-media, storytelling with music, young audience programs, cross-genre performances and educational initiatives among others.

With advancements in technology, we find innovative ways to connect with audiences, artists and industry professionals. Our e-newsletter, artists on social networks, artists' websites, youtube, CBC’s Concerts-On-Demand and of course, AKAM’s own andrewkwanartists.com are just some of the means to stay in touch and informed.

Strengthening the cultural fabric of the country has become increasingly more important over the years. AKAM is proud to work as a team member in this endeavour with everyone who shares our passion for music and art. The past 20 years have been truly rewarding and I look forward whole-heartedly to the opportunities that lie ahead.
